Johnny T, Jon Dicus and I along with our dear friends Jason and Rebecca Jones from
Otterball were privileged to be a part of the Tin Pan South preview party held at the Rutledge.
The party was a great opportunity for all the sponsors, including the generous folks at Regions Bank, to get together and celebrate the launch of another year of the festival. Tin Pan South allows us music buffs to celebrate not only the fantastic artists in this town, but to see the absolute genius that exists in Nashville's writers rooms. There is just something about hearing the hits straight for the mouths that wrote them.
This is my first year participating in TPS from a sponsor's standpoint, but I've attended the festival every year since I've moved here. I love the appeal of hearing these writers rounds. No production, no bells or whistles, just flat out raw music from the dreamers themselves. There's nothing like it.
We here at MCU, alongside Otterball, will be hosting two shows, both Saturday April 3rd at 3rd and Lindsley. We've been lucky enough to form two fantastic rounds that will be sure to please all in attendance. Not only that but Lightning 100 has decided to make our shows their 20th anniversary celebration!
Our Sat, April 3 early show (6:30pm) will include Butterfly Boucher, Thad Cockrell, Daniel Ellsworth, and Katie Herzig. Then our late show (9:30pm) will include Don Chaffer, Amy Stroup, Jennifer Knapp, and Charlie Peacock.
How did we get so lucky to gather this much talent in one night? Honestly, we don't know (and maybe the otterball folks helped pull a few string for us!), but we're excited and ready to host an incredible night of music! Be sure to get there in plenty time as this will be one for books. Can't wait to see you all there!
The Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival takes place March 30 - April 3 at venues across Nashville. You can view the full Tin Pan South Schedule and buy passes
